Manchester United made a surprise January signing with the acquisition of wonder kid Amad Diallo from Atalanta on an initial 18 m Pound fee that is set to rise to 37 m in add-ons leaving many wondering why pay such a hefty fee for an Ivorian youngster who is merely 18 years old and made just 5 senior appearances for Atalanta before joining Man United. However, Ole Solskjaer reckoned that United's scouting staff had been carefully monitoring his progress over the years. His key attribute is his electric dribbling, creativity, vision and the ability to play anywhere across the attacking positions thus adding some versatility to Man United's attack. His signing has been likened to the 2003 signing of Christiano Ronaldo from Sporting Lisbon but CR7 had finished his first successful season in Portugal before coming to Manchester. Both had skinny bodies when they first joined but adding weight was not a problem for Ronaldo and should not be the case for Diallo definitely . Ole Solskjaer has been quick to hail his quick integration to the rest of the squad, and it's a matter of when not if he will join the first team squad. He joins fellow youngster Facundo Pellestri as part of the raw talents that Man United have splashed colossal amounts of money on, and it's up to them to make the transition into top footballers in the future.
